E-Petition Update – PETITION NOW CLOSED

While the Covid-19 pandemic continues to dominate the news, Canadians have been working individually and collectively to mitigate the risk of this terrible virus. From the safety of home practicing self-isolation, you can still do your part to try to stop the air shipment of horses from Canada to Japan for slaughter.

E-petition 2410 is open for signatures until June 5th, 2020.  An electronic petition (“e-petition”) is used to draw attention to an issue of public interest or concern and to request that the House of Commons, the Government of Canada, a Minister of the Crown, or a Member of the House of Commons take or refrain from some action.

In 2018, the Canadian Horse Defence Coalition (CHDC) sued the Canadian Government for violating 2 sections of the Health of Animals Regulations (HAR) and names the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food as the respondent.

In 2019, the case was lost, but the CHDC has appealed.  To help the CHDC with our appeal, you can donate here

Thank you for your continued support!
